Bernie Sherlock studied choral conducting for two years with Peter Erdei and Ildikó Herboly Kocsár in Hungary, followed by orchestral conducting with Gerhard Markson in Dublin. She earned a BA in music from Trinity College, Dublin, and a Masters in performance from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.
Bernie is Musical Director of Dublin’s Culwick Choral Society and has an international profile as an adjudicator, choral animateur, and teacher of conducting and aural training. She has won several international prizes for her conducting, interpretation and programming and is a Lecturer in Music at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. She has been Artistic Director of the Association of Irish Choirs’ annual International Choral Conducting Summer School since 2008, and is the Irish representative on the World Choir Council.
But don’t be afraid! Bernie loves working within different genres of music and is delighted to be bringing her experience and knowledge to the Gospel Rising Music Festival.
